General FAQ

Virtual advertising (also known as Digital Replacement Technology, Digital Board Replacement, or Erase and Replace technology) is the digital insertion of virtual content into a broadcast feed for live television broadcast or streaming.

Using virtual advertising technology, existing stadium advertising can be replaced with virtual content. New virtual content can also be placed directly onto the playing field, court, or any other empty space.

Virtual advertising enables sports rights holders to maximize the potential revenue from live in-game sponsorship, by increasing the available inventory within the venue and increasing the commercial potential of existing inventory by multiplying it, allowing the space to be utilized by multiple different sponsors.

Virtual advertising also allows brands to maximize the potential of their sponsorship investment, by targeting only the most valuable audience segments, customizing messaging for local markets, and managing the advertising and sponsorship regulations of certain countries.

Virtual advertising has been developed to help both rights holders and brands maximize the commercial potential of sports sponsorship and live in-game advertising

Virtual advertising can help rights holders to increase their advertising inventory and increase the commercial potential of their existing inventory. This allows them to offer more bespoke and valuable packages to potential sponsors and advertisers, with greater audience targeting capabilities and options to customize content

With virtual advertising, global brands can tailor their content, promoting unique messaging to different markets, aligning with regional marketing campaigns. Smaller, local brands can benefit by accruing less costly local sponsorship rights and targeting only the markets which are most relevant to them.

uniqFEED offers a completely tailored solution, therefore the price very much depends on the specific requirements of our clients and partners, such as how many virtual feeds should be produced, etc.

Rather than acting exclusively as a software provider, we prefer to take a collaborative approach with our clients and partners and work together to create a bespoke solution.

Technical FAQ

uniqFEED receives the isolated (ISO) camera signals and world feed from a live sporting event. Multiple duplicate feeds are then created into which unique virtual content is digitally inserted.

The new regionalized feeds are then distributed via the various broadcasters. Viewers at home are exposed to different advertising content depending on the geographical region in which they are watching.

A virtual insert is virtual content that has been placed onto empty space such as on to the playing field, court or pitch, or onto any other space available.

A virtual overlay is virtual content that replaces existing advertising content such as the pitch-side boards in a football stadium.

The simplest answer is; it depends on your project. We provide a bespoke solution and no two sports events are ever exactly the same.  6 is the standard number of feeds we offer outside of more bespoke solutions. Please reach out to us to discuss your requirements and we’ll be delighted to find a solution that works for you.

No additional hardware is required in the venue in order to deploy uniqFEED’s virtual advertising solution. The solution is entirely software-based. Our team doesn’t even need to enter the stadium, we can fully deploy our solution either on-site in our own OB van, in an on-site facility, or even remotely. The only collaboration we may need with the in-stadium team is calibration of the cameras. This can also be accomplished remotely.

Virtual advertising content can be placed on almost any surface within the stadium, and is not limited by hardware installations. Whether you want to see your content on the advertising boards, or on the pitch or court itself, it’s all possible. uniqFEED’s AdApt solution has also been developed to be texture aware, meaning that the appearance of the virtual content is adapted to different surface textures, such as grass or clay. This helps to create hyper-realistic virtual content that is indistinguishable from physical advertising.

Yes! As long as we are provided with the advertising artwork in advance, we can change it throughout the game in real-time. Meaning multiple messages can be rotated throughout the game, and existing static content can also be replaced with animated content if required.

uniqFEED can deploy virtual advertising without the need for costly additional hardware, invasive adaptation to in-stadium equipment or disruption of the production workflow. The solution is based solely on software and can even be deployed remotely, requiring only camera signals to function.
